In the top 10 sedans table for the month of April 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire led the way ahead of Aura, Tigor, Amaze and Verna
In April 2024, Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire secured the leading position on the sedan sales charts, with a domestic sales figure of 15,825 units. This marks a substantial 56 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, during which 10,132 units were sold. Meanwhile, one of its primary competitors, the Hyundai Aura, emerged as the second most sold sedan in the country last month.
The Hyundai Aura achieved a total sales figure of 4,526 units, experiencing an 11 per cent year-on-year sales decline from 5,085 units. The Tata Tigor garnered 2,153 units compared to 3,154 units, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 32 per cent. Meanwhile, the Honda Amaze secured the fourth position with 1,796 units sold last month, down from 3,393 units in April 2023, representing a substantial year-on-year sales decline of 47 per cent in India.
The third-gen Honda Amaze has been speculated to be in the works with expectations for its launch during the upcoming festive season. The Hyundai Verna secured the fifth position, with a total of 1,571 units sold. This represents a significant year-on-year decline in sales, with negative growth of 61 per cent, compared to 4,001 units sold during the same period last year.

Last month, the Virtus midsize sedan recorded a total of 1,183 units registered, a decrease from 1,481 units sold during the same period last year, indicating a year-on-year decline of 20 per cent. It claimed the third position among midsize sedans, trailing behind its counterpart, the Skoda Slavia, and secured the seventh spot in the overall sedan volume charts.
The Skoda Slavia is built on the extensively localized MQB A0 IN platform, which it shares with the Volkswagen Virtus, leading to numerous similarities. Last month, the Slavia achieved a total sales figure of 1,253 units, down from 1,586 units sold during the corresponding period last year, indicating a year-on-year decrease of 21 per cent. Maruti Suzuki secured the eighth position with 867 units sold.

Compared to the same period twelve months ago when it posted 1,017 units, a year-on-year sales decline of 15 per cent was noted. The Honda City could only manage ninth ahead of the Toyota Camry by registering 824 units compared to 1,920 units during the same period last year, representing a significant year-on-year de-growth of 57 per cent.
