WWE icon Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson had no room for The Undertaker in his wrestling ‘Mount Rushmore’. The Rock is one of the greatest superstars to have graced the world wrestling circuit. Working with WWE for more than two decades, the 59-year-old has crossed paths with almost every talented superstar of the recent generations. In an interaction with LadBible, The Rock picked the four legendary Mount Rushmore wrestlers.
“So, my Mount Rushmore of WWE stars would be ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, the ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, and I would have to go with Andre the Giant,” he said. The Rock might have left no space for argument over his choices. He, however, didn’t mention The Undertaker– a WWE Hall of Famer who achieved much success during his time with the company.
During the conversation, Dwayne Johnson further claimed he would not be leaving the company permanently anytime soon. “With WWE I feel like it’s in my blood and what I mean by that is my grandfather, a lot of people know this and a lot don’t, my grandfather used to wrestle for WWE…for Vince McMahon’s dad in the 70s. My dad came along and wrestled for Vincent McMahon. I came along in the 90s and wrestled for Vince into the 2000s,” the 10-time World Champion explained.
“So there’s some connected tissue that goes back generations. I love wrestling, I love WWE. And for that I will forever be grateful because it provided me a platform and a way to express myself in ways that nothing else would allow, other than acting,” he added.
Apart from being a mega superstar in WWE, The Rock now holds an administrative role in the company. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for TKO Group Holdings. “So the opportunity for me to become a director, sit on the board, take that position, is just another way that I could help the company grow. Any opportunity I can to go back and not only make appearances but help to expand the company, whether domestically or globally, I always go back. And it’s also part of my obligation that I happily do,” The Rock concluded.
The Rock played a major role in the WWE’s recent leading storylines involving Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Siding with his Samoan brother, The Rock faced the duo of Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag-team match at WrestleMania 40. He pinned the American Nightmare to win the tag-team action. With Rhodes eventually winning the Undisputed Title from Reigns, The Rock will now be looking to get his hands on the championship. He returned during WWE Bad Blood where he stared down Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
